Cohen Nursery School at the YM-YWHA of North Jersey has been
helping families for more than 30 years raise inspired,
self-confident, well rounded children with a love for
learning. How do we know this? Just look at the top 5 out

Nursery School!
The Nursery
School boasts seasoned teachers that offer dedicated, caring
and sensitive attention to each child’s individual growth,
needs and academic development. With modern, airy
classrooms, a state-of-the-art indoor swimming pool, dynamic
playground and a permanent indoor climbing room, our
facility is an incredible place for young children to learn
and explore. Students learn through experience using the
most current learning materials in pre-writing, pre-reading
and mathematics. Academics are infused in everyday
activities to make sure that lessons are meaningful and
placed in context.
The school has
an active Parent Committee and families are encouraged to
participate in all activities and school events. There are
many ways for parents and families to get involved and
become part of the Nursery School community. Nursery school
graduates and older siblings also enjoy a continuing role,
helping with summer programs and community activities. Our
Acts of Kindness program stresses the importance of charity
and giving back to the community as part of our connection
to Jewish heritage, culture and values. We actively support
our community and welcome all members of our community.
Students of the
Abram B. Cohen Nursery school are able to take advantage of
our unparalleled facility for creative play, large muscle
development and movement through physical education classes,
swim programs, ball sports in our squash, racquetball and
basketball courts, and dance/creative movement classes. All
our programs focus on the whole child.
Our Nursery
School classes have traditional hours and also offer you the
flexibility of a full day nursery school program – not day
care! Children as young as 2 years old can enjoy a 2, 3, or
5 day morning program or a full day program ending at 3pm.
For 3 year olds, both morning and afternoon sessions are
offered 3 or 5 days a week. For 4 year olds, in addition to
the 5 day traditional afternoon session, children can
participate in morning enrichment classes to include
computers, science, language arts, art, social studies,
dance, cooking, sports and dramatics. Afternoon enrichment
classes are also offered to include Karate, sports and
fitness, dance and computers. For working parents, our
enrichment programs gives children the opportunity to expand
and enrich their school experience by providing varied and
unique learning opportunities from 8:00am to 5:45pm.
