Our Philosophy
Camp Veritans is committed to
providing children with a safe and nurturing environment
where they are encouraged to explore, discover, create and
succeed. Our programming is designed by professionals who
believe that campers thrive when they are guided by trained,
confident staff in a calm, structured environment. Each
camper is encouraged to take part in our wide variety of new
and exciting program areas at their own pace.
Our Staff
Camp Veritans prides itself on the training, dedication and
time that we give to each staff member. In turn this
provides our camp with the very best camp staff to care for
our campers. Whether it is a Junior Counselor, Senior
Counselor or Specialist we take pride in knowing that our
staff is provided all the proper tools with which to guide
our campers. All of our staff are interviewed by the Camp
Director and chosen based upon their experience,
professionalism and desire to be a positive role model for
our campers.
Our Program
We understand at Camp Veritans that the needs of our younger
campers vary from those of our older campers. To accommodate
these varying needs, and ensure that proper attention and
care is given to each specific age, we divide our camp into
two divisions, Lower Camp for Kindegarten thru 2nd grade and
Upper Camp for 3rd thru 9th grade. In addition, we offer a
CIT program for campers entering the 10th grade.
Your campers tuition not
only includes our outstanding daily programs but daily
catered kosher lunches, snacks, transportation, trips,
overnights/under nights and all special activities and
entertainment.

Camp Vertians
Counselor - In Training Program
Spend the summer working with our campers and receiving leadership training from our professional staff!
"CIT's" divide their day between working with campers and joining their peers in training sessions and group activities. There
are even "CIT" trips throughout the summer! |
Lower
Camp
Our Lower Camp consists of two units:
Kinneret: Campers entering kindergarten
El Al: Campers entering 1st & 2nd grade
Our Lower Camp curriculum is designed to allow our youngest campers room to explore and
socialize in a nurturing, noncompetitive and structured environment. Activities and special events are geared toward introducing
children to the fun and excitement of camp while moving at a pace that is comfortable and relaxed. A daily mix of swim, specialty and
athletic activities are presented with a whimsical flair, allowing for skill-building in an exciting and care-free atmosphere. Amazing
special events round out a magical Camp Veritans summer.
Upper Camp
Our Upper Camp consists of three units:
Negev:
Campers entering 3rd, 4th
& 5th grade
Galil: Campers entering 6th
& 7th grade
Masada:
Campers entering 8th and 9th grade
Our Upper Camp curriculum is designed to introduce our older campers to a greater variety of cutting-edge camp activities, while still
providing a relaxed, nurturing and comfortable space in which to explore. Campers are always encouraged to participate in activities but are
never forced, a rule that is born of the philosophy that when activities are positively introduced in an inviting and fun manner, children
will naturally want to try them. Our professional staff of specialty counselors will work hand-in-hand with group staff to get to know each
camper and make them feel excited about each camp day. Upper campers enjoy daily swims, a large variety of specialty and athletic
activities, our elective club program as well as special events, great trips and camp overnights.
Masada
Grades 8th- 9th
As our most experienced and mature “tween” campers,
Masada campers are given the opportunity to travel out of
camp more often, to visit exciting places, see great sights
and socialize with their peers in a variety of different
settings.
Elective Club Program
Upper
campers take part in our elective club program throughout
the week where they are able to choose the activities that
they would like to explore in greater depth. Clubs are a
great opportunity for our campers to get a more detailed and
intensive taste of a particular activity area that interests
them. Clubs are taught by qualified specialists and staff
who develop curriculum especially for these elective
activities. Campers choose new clubs to participate in every
two weeks.
Camp Trips and Overnights
Our upper campers take part in some awesome day-trips throughout the summer. Trips
are designed to be a great change of pace from the regular camp day and are intended to give our campers a feeling of responsibility and
freedom as they move through the camp ranks. Food is provided on all trips.
Our
Camp Veritans in-camp overnights are a real hit and something our upper campers look forward to each summer. After-camp special swim time, a
delicious hot dinner, special group nighttime activities, a goodnight’s sleep and a fantastic pre-camp breakfast are just some of the
awesome things in store.
Negev campers will take part in three daytrips and one
in-camp overnight. Galil campers will take part in four day-trips and one in-camp overnight.
CIT:
Counselor in Training Program (For teens
entering 10th grade)
Bridging the gap between being a camper and becoming a counselor, our
Counselor in Training program is a full eight-week program designed to
train teens to become future camp staff (an eight-week commitment is required
for 10th graders). Under the supervision of camp administrators,
CIT’s will
work directly with our younger camp groups, interacting with campers and learning about the responsibilities and skills it takes to become a
member of the Camp Veritans staff.
CIT’s will enjoy some exciting camper benefits
too! They will participate in awesome activities. Weekly
CIT meetings with camp administration will encourage the sharing of experiences and will facilitate the learning process through
discussion and role playing activities.
All CIT’s must have a pre-enrollment interview with the Camp Director. Though completing the
CIT
program does not guarantee future employment at Camp Veritans, we hope that our
CIT’s will use this valuable training as a stepping stone
for future employment endeavors.
The Veritans Club
Our camp property is owned by the Veritans Club, a local philanthropic organization whose fund-raising efforts help support the
camp. It is with their help that many of the camp’s physical improvements take place each year. The YM-YWHA of North Jersey and the
Veritans Club work hand-in-hand to provide your child with the best camp facility possible. |
