We have established a few guidelines to help us serve you and your children in the best way possible. The following rules have been put into place to ensure that the babysitting experience is happy and safe for all the children in our care.

***Children will be accepted into the babysitting room on a first come, first serve/space availability basis. If the room becomes overcrowded, at the discretion of the babysitters, we may not be able to accept your child. Too many children during one period of time can create a potentially hazardous situation and your child’s safety is our utmost concern. We will limit the number of infants (ages 6 months – 12 months) at one time to maintain a level of safety. If you know in advance that you will need childcare at a certain time, please talk to the babysitters so that they can expect your young child.

  • Please be sure that you have registered all necessary information with the the babysitters.  Sign in with the babysitters each time you leave your child(ren) and let them know where you will be while in the building.

  • Children are welcome to stay in the Babysitting Room for a two hour maximum time period. That should give parents ample time to participate in programs and utilize the Sports and Fitness facility.

  • No parents are permitted to leave the building when their youngsters are in the care of the babysitters. We do not have the necessary resources to care for your children appropriately should an emergency arise. Cell phones are not a reliable source of communication.

  • If the room becomes overcrowded, at the discretion of the babysitters, we will ask you to return at a later time. Too many children during one period of time can create a potentially hazardous situation.

  • We will limit the number of infants, (ages 6 months – 12 months), to three at one time to maintain a level of safety. If you know in advance that you will be needing childcare at a certain time, please talk to the babysitters so that they can expect your young child.

  • If the weather is inclement and/or schools are closed, or there is a religious or secular holiday, please call the Y in advance to be sure that there will be babysitting on that day.

  • We ask that no food or beverage be brought into the Babysitting Room to ensure the safety of our children with food allergies.  Snack and drink will be provided.

  • Please supply the babysitters with diapers and wipes should your child need to be changed.  If you do NOT with the babysitters to change your child's diaper, please let them know and they will contact you wherever you are in the building.

Please contact Arlene Liebman, Parenting Center Director, ext. 280 should you have questions or are in need of further information.
