Junior Group
These
swimmers continue to build on the foundations already
mastered with increased focus on interval training. Constant
drill work to perfect stroke technique, start and turn
mechanics is covered. The length of practice time is one and
one-half hours. The required practice attendance is three
per week averaged over the entire season.

Levels - Descriptions
Junior
Swimmers will be between the age of 9 and 11 years old.
Stroke development and competitiveness are the main
objectives of this group.
Senior
Swimmers will be ages 12 and up. Program is designed to
include committed athletes to the sport.
Class Description
Aquababies
Parent/Adult
accompaniment in the water is required. Ages range from 6
months to 2 years old. This level provides the child with
water adjustment, exploring the pool, bubble blowing,
kicking on stomach and back with assistance.
Aquatots
Parent/Adult
accompaniment in the water is required. Ages 2 to 4 years
old. This level provides the child with water adjustment,
exploring the pool, bubble blowing, kicking on stomach and
back with assistance, underwater exploration, etc.
Level I:
Water
Exploration
Ages 4 years and older. The Objective of this
level is to help students feel comfortable in the water and
to enjoy the water safely. The Instructor will teach
elementary aquatic skills, such as bubble blowing, kicking,
and submerge their whole bodies.
Level II:
Primary Skills
Ages 4 years and older. The instructor will provide students
with fundamental skills such as front floating and back
floating without support. True locomotion skills are
introduced in this level.
Level III:
Stroke readiness
Ages 4 years and older. Build on the skills in Level II. The
instructor will teach students the coordination of the front
and back crawl. At this level swimmers will be introduced to
the breaststroke kick. Students must be comfortable with the
deep part of the pool. Lesson will be administrated in a
non-standing area of the pool.
Level IV
Stroke
Development
Ages 4 years and older. Development of
confidence in the strokes learned thus far. Introduction of
butterfly kick and diving from the side of the pool. Upon
successful completion of this level students will be
strongly encouraged to try out for the Bluestreaks Swim
Team, or to enroll in the stroke clinic.

Aquacize
Fitness
YMHA classes for all Y members
include ongoing year round skill development of stretching,
strength training, agility and coordination. The class is
based upon aerobic conditioning and body movement
targeting muscle groups, which aid in balance, core strength
and neuromuscular development. Free to all Y members.

Aqua Core Dynamics 2008
This
45 minute aquatic class provides resistance training using
your core stabilization to explore and improve dynamic
balance, strength, agility and coordination. You will
include intensity, alignment, muscle integration and
stretching to achieve a full body workout and to realign the
body for better posture in order to provide more support for
the spine. Shallow and deep-water exercises are taught to
music using dumbbells, kickboards, noodles, and balls. This
low impact course is appropriate for all ages and levels
from beginners on up. Class size is limited in order to
provide individualized instruction. Classes will be filled
on a first come first serve basis.
